Valerie was born in Bogota, Colombia. She is a graduate of the Universidad de los Andes, her degree being in Languages and Sociocultural Studies, with a minor in Political Science and International Relationships. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French; she also enjoys conversing in German and Portuguese, and has studied Japanese, Italian, Arabic and currently enjoys learning biblical Hebrew and biblical Greek. She likes reading, traveling, and outdoors activities such as hiking, rock climbing, paragliding and white water rafting.
Valerie has worked as a bilingual interpreter in various settings for the US Embassy, commercial video production, and for mission and church groups. Valerie says, “My love for languages and cultures has shown me how intertwined these are when it comes to our relationship with God, His Word, and with those around us. I love seeing how God’s Word touches and changes us when it speaks to us in our own language in a personal way. I am a full time Scripture Engagement facilitator and practitioner with Storyweavers Global (https://www.storyweaversglobal.org/). And that’s precisely what we do, we weave God’s Word into our lives and conversations in a relevant, significant and relational way. We focus on Biblical Storyweaving for evangelism, discipleship, emotionally healthy spirituality and addiction recovery.”
