Ann and I are High School sweethearts and are happily married. We have three grown boys, Joshua and Caleb and Isaac.
In May 2010, our then 14 year old son, Josh, was diagnosed with cancer (Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). We are beyond thankful to report that, with God’s help, Josh’s treatment was a success and looking at him now, you would never guess he had gone through this life threatening disease. But…it was through this experience that we were reminded just how short life can sometimes be. We no longer wanted to take things for granite or spend our days just bringing in money to survive day-to-day. We always wanted to take our family on a Mission trip but since professionally organized Mission trips were cost prohibitive for our family of five, once Josh fully recovered, we started planning a our own Mission trip to Mexico.
In July 2011 our whole family traveled to Vicente Guerrero, Mexico and spent the week working with a great team of people building 4 houses for families living in houses made of discarded wood and cardboard. The trip impacted our lives in a huge way and we knew we would never be the same. Ann was asked to take on the role of the head of Missions and Evangelism at our church and each Summer we volunteered at Orphanages in the La Mision area, shared the love of Jesus, did work projects, helped those with special needs, made chicken coops and provided baby chicks and Blessing Bags to the people in the community.
After a couple years of leading short term Missions, we knew we were being called to the Mission field full-time. We sold our home of 17 year and most of our belongings and moved to La Mision, Mexico to be full-time missionaries. We are the directors of Operation Baja Amor with the mission statement of “Walking alongside in love”. We walk alongside Ministries and Missionaries and the impoverished people of Baja, Mexico offering prayer and support anyway we can.
