Hi! We are Michael and Mallorie & Audrey Ramos, and our ministry is Anhelo (ahn-eh-loh) Missions. We currently live and serve in the Carazo area of Nicaragua, located just an hour from the capital of Managua.
Anhelo means desire. Our desire is simply to share the gospel of Jesus Christ while equipping those of Nicaragua with farming practices. Our ministry focuses mostly on Agricultural teachings. We are passionate about using farming to bring the lost and hopeless, to the feet of Jesus.
We want to do this by helping those in our local communities, learn how to provide for themselves and their families, while sharing the gospel through discipleship & biblical trainings.
Our ministry is currently serving in four different areas.
Huevos de Amor (Eggs of Love):
This project was created as a way of equipping families in our communities, with the means to produce their own eggs. With $40 a month, we are able to bless one family with one rooster, 3 hens & chicken wire. The goal for this project is for families to have food for their little ones everyday before they go to school. Eggs are the cheapest protein source in Central America. One egg a day, per child provides them with enough protein to help them physically, mentally and spiritually.
Huevos de Amor (Eggs of Love) Individual Family Chicken Coops:
Our second part in ministry is helping families build long term chicken coop enclosures. These coops cost roughly $300 per family. These coops allow for the safety and protection of the family’s chickens.
Community Chicken House (Gallinero de Amor):
In our area there are more than 25 Christian preschools, elementary schools & non profit organizations. All of which are either privately run, or run by the government. Each is responsible for providing breakfast for their children/ students. Most of the time, due to budgeting, schools are only able to provide Gallo pinto (fried rice and beans). We want to help supplement this, by donating eggs to each of these locations weekly. With our new chicken house, we will have 100+ chickens providing one egg a day. This is over 700 eggs, in which we can distribute to our local agencies per week. We want our little ones to know that God loves them, and he has not forgotten them.
Biblical Trainings:
Each month our Pastor leads Biblical trainings. A small Bible study is taught, as well as classes on the proper care of chickens and the importance of one egg a day per child.
Cultivating:
It is very important that people learn to cultivate their own foods, as prices in the market continue to rise daily. With the economy continuously up and down, we want to teach gardening practices, so those around us don’t go without. Vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, green peppers, squash, onions and potatoes are relatively easy to grow here. However many people lack the knowledge and the resources to get their own gardens going.
We believe God wants to use every resource available; whether it is through health, education, or agriculture. We also believe God wants to be present in every area of our lives.
We welcome your prayers and financial support as we serve in Nicaragua. We are not funded by any one church or mission organization. We rely on support from individuals like you who have decided to partner with us in our ministry. Send us an email (mallorie.dennis@gmail.com) to talk more about how you can get involved.
