For the past five and a half years I have been serving as an elder at Fuente de Vida and directly pastoring the mission in Hacienda. A little over a year ago I stepped away from my longtime secular job in order to be able to dedicate myself to the ministry full-time. In my role as pastor of the mission, I organize and preach at a family-centered service once a week. We have Awana every Saturday with about 70 children in attendance. My wife is heavily involved in this ministry – serving as the director for the 5 Awana clubs of our church, Fuente de Vida.
I preach occasionally in the service at Fuente de Vida, and every second Sunday evening at the service we hold in the mission location. I also actively teach and disciple the men in the mission location. We do community evangelism weekly and our group of men who participate in this has grown from 3 to 10 over the past year. Carolina has been very involved with the women’s discipleship and youth ministry as well. Visitation of Awana families and people in the community is another important aspect of our ministry. The congregation of 50 has outgrown the small house that we rent for ministry space. Brothers and sisters are getting baptized and learning to walk obediently with the Lord and to serve him by participating in the work of the church. With God’s help in this past year, we were able to make a down payment on a large property in a good location in the community. As God provides, we hope to begin constructing a building to serve as a meeting place for the church in Hacienda.
