In 2015, I had the privilege of living and working in Honduras for five months. The following year I returned to serve for another nine months. During my previous time in Honduras, I worked at a Christian bilingual school and a Children’s Center.
I am currently raising support to return to Honduras for another school year (18 months).
The bilingual school provides a Christian education for many elementary school children who live in the surrounding communities. This coming school year I hope to continue filling the role of Physical Education teacher and recess supervisor for K-5th grade, as well as assist in other areas such as the school’s late stay program.
The Children’s Center, which is similar to a foster home in the United States, provides a home for children who come from poor home situations, such as abuse or neglect. Some of the children also reside at the home to gain access to better education or medical help. At the Children’s Center, I hope to continue developing relationships with the children as we do homework, play games, take trips to the beach and eat ice cream.
I also enjoy doing things in the community. One of the ways I have been able to get to know many of the people in the community is through soccer. I have played with the local women’s soccer team. I hope to continue being involved in soccer events. The local church also provides me the opportunity to interact with many of the youth and women in the community.
Pray that God would use me and provide me with opportunities to share His love and the gospel with others. In Honduras, I have the opportunity to interact with many children and youth, the next generation of Hondurans. Pray for their hearts, that they might be transformed by the gospel.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
