Verne with orphan girl and her blind father

In 2014, God called us to Kibogora, Rwanda with our church. While the others were ministering to children at the hospital and people around the area, Verne was to teach at a university. BUT before we arrived at our destination, God broke his heart for the orphans. They had no education because their living conditions provided no money for school supplies or uniforms. These children were busy just trying to find food for themselves. Some of them had been taken in by relatives or neighbors who couldn’t afford to even feed them once a day!

He formed a school for the children who couldn’t go to school. Sponsors have paid for the school costs and food and clothing for the children.

In 2018, this school became registered with the government of Rwanda as a legal, private school – EAI of Rwanda School.

God had expanded our ministry by asking Verne to head a Pastors’ Conference for the Pastors who lost their churches due to government shutdown. The pastors weren’t educated, yet have been preaching many years. A team of 8 taught discipleship and evangelism to pastors in two areas of Rwanda. We were able to provide 150 certificates and ID cards to these pastors.

God allowed Verne one last trip to Rwanda February 2019. He passed out the certificates to the pastors and loved those children. He died less than two weeks after returning. We are still raising funds to feed, clothe and educate these children. Alexandre Mugalishya is handling the money to pay the bills and care for the children.
