Marda Quon Stothers

Ward and I served in full-time faith-based ministry in Belfast, Northern Ireland from 2008-2014.  That experience formed my vocational call to come alongside (like Job’s friends), enliven faith (Acts 2:42) and practice reconciliation  (Is 2:4, Micah 6:8).  I’m continuing to be interested in doing this through creativity and community building.

Ward 7/11/1945 – 3/16/2018

I was the Project Manager for Jubilee property development of a barn and accessory buildings in 2019.  Jubilee is a Christian creation care organization in Larne, Northern Ireland.  They raised enough money through a community share offer to buy the farmhouse and property.  Their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme is now raising pigs and planting vegetables.  I planned and coordinated the property layout and building plans.

With the Covid pandemic the Lord focused my work locally.  Our church went onto Zoom and we baked, made You Matter bags and delivered notes and cookies to members and friends for a year and a half.  I participated in a Race Matters group after George Floyd was killed to address racial issues.  As a Deacon I care for our members in need.  I host missionaries and a Global Missions meetings in my home.  I assisted a Church of South India pastor to finish his doctorate.  I continued my Caregiver Support Group in partnership with a woman from a Catholic church.  I was videotaped for a film on caregiving for someone with Parkinson’s Disease.  I served on the Board of WP313 a nonprofit advocating workplace discipleship.  I served on the local Presbytery’s Finance and Property Oversight Committee.

This last involvement enabled me to apply for a position with our local Presbytery to be the Executive Partner for Mission and Church Assets.  I started this work on 12 May 2022 with encouragement from Pastor Mike Cave of CMN.  As my mother worked until she was 81 years old I have always shunned the traditional view of retirement.  We work and we rest is the Biblical model.  It is a pastoral assignment to lead by caring for the sheep.

My work advances the Kingdom of God by encouraging the people of the church to do the work of the Church demonstrating to the world the power of God in us to care for the infirmed, the caregivers, to reconcile people and to heal the earth.  We can alleviate poverty and sustain world peace.

Pray for me and give to support my work.  Be in touch if I can help you.
