Francis & Caroline Ngugi

My name is Francis Kinuthia Ngugi, and I was born and raised in Rutara, Kenya. I come from a family where my father practiced polygamy before marrying my mum. Her being a committed Christian and leader in the church since my childhood, she influenced my dad to give land to build the first AIC church in our area. God also used her to influence my dad to give his life to Christ.

Coming from such a family, I still had major sin struggles. I rebelled against my parents and fell into drug abuse. I was addicted and landed in rehab. This is where I encountered Christ and gave my life to Him.

After the Lord brought me out of addiction, I attended Moffat Bible College where I was mentored, taught, and equipped for ministry. While in college, I helped plant a church in my neighboring country of Uganda, where there are many Muslims who do not know Christ. Since then, I have served in several rural churches in a teaching capacity and compassion ministry. I currently pastor at my home church, AIC Rutara.

My wife, Caroline, is also a devoted Christian who was brought up by God-fearing leaders in their church. Due to a humble upbringing that lacked basic necessities, she developed generosity and compassion, especially for young girls. Alongside me, she serves in churches, schools and with needy families we walk with. In schools, she has a ministry educating young girls about the dangers of early sex and sex outside of marriage. Moreover, she participates in giving out sanitary pads to street girls who are pregnant.

God has blessed us with a son, Nikko, and we have also adopted two girls, Innocent and Juliah, and another boy, Benson.

Five years ago, I started an organization called Rutara Hope Home. Our motto is “honoring God through caring for the needy.” We are currently helping over 50 orphans, 17 widows, and their families. The Lord has used us to reach needy people Nakuru, Kenya, and surrounding villages to point them to Christ through helping with Bible study and mentorship programs.
