Cornel and Rachel have been missionaries in Romania for 5 years. Rachel moved from the United States to Romania in September 2014, while Cornel moved from his hometown in Northern Romania to Southern Romania in August 
2015. They met each other in ministry and before long were married in March 2017. They have been serving in Craiova, Romania since June 2019 and before this, they were missionaries in a small village outside of Craiova (Daneasa) for 3.5 years. In the village, they were doing youth ministry, discipleship, evangelism and church planting. During the first year that Rachel was in Romania, she was focused on learning the language and did administration for the pastor.
Cornel and Rachel Mich are serving with Hope Church in Romania’s 5th largest city, Craiova. Craiova has a population of around 300,000 people. Craiova is known as the capital of Oltenia, a region of Romania that is highly looked down upon. Craiova has the largest population of Roma people in all of Romania (8%-10%), and the area is also known for having a communistic mentality. It is also an area with less than 0.2% of Jesus followers (around 600 believers in the whole city). Oltenia is known for witchcraft, and this is true for Craiova. This ministry is branch out of Hope Church in Draganesti-Olt, Romania and it officially started in Fall 2017.
The Mich’s are involved in many things, however their main focus is starting a youth ministry in the city. There are over 80,000 youth and college students and hardly any of them know Christ personally. They are currently in the process of meeting youth, building relationships with them and sharing Christ with them. Their desire is to see the youth come to know Christ personally, and also that they would share Christ with their peers and families.
They are also involved in administrative tasks, such as working with short-term teams (translating, driving, cooking, leading morning prayer, etc), and 
communication back to Hope Church partners in the United States and Europe (emails, updates to Facebook pages, giving databases, etc). Starting in 2020, Cornel and Rachel will also be taking short-term trips with or without short-term teams into the Balkans to share the Gospel. There are several communities of Romanians in each Balkan country that are unseen and forgotten.
