Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b) Life is a gift from God from conception until He calls our final hour. We honor this life in the hope of sharing God’s loving offer of eternal life. God gifts His people in diverse ways to accomplish His desire to grant life abundant. In my case, He gifted skills in fabric and fiber work. He also gave me speed. My mission is to use these skills to equip front-line workers in ministry with tools to show the love of God to the people they serve.

Having decided on abortion, a couple went to a pregnancy center because they could get the proof of pregnancy free instead of having to pay for it at the abortion clinic. The volunteer gave the young mother her choice of handmade hats. The girl picked up one I made, held it up to her boyfriend, and said, “Look! It’s our school colors!” The moment the words were out of the girl’s mouth realization dawned. They changed their minds about the abortion.

The true story above is not unique. Because handmade items are such effective tools for fighting the psychological battle that this is a baby (not merely tissue), pregnancy centers love using such articles. However, many centers have no regular suppliers. The largest part of my ministry is handcrafting needed items and shipping them to pregnancy centers in high abortion risk areas. The centers I support have the goals of saving lives, sharing the gospel, equipping young parents, and helping post-abortion families heal in their programs.

However, sharing God’s love through honoring life does not stop when the baby arrives. It continues throughout life. My work supports a variety of ministries from grieving parents of miscarriages and stillbirths, to pregnancy centers, to foster and adoptive parents, to mentoring, to relief work, to dementia support.

God has prepared me for life-affirming ministry through the blessing of growing up with disabled siblings, being a minister’s daughter, working in Christian education with an attendant range of other service opportunities, completing a biblical studies degree from Moody Bible Institute, and building crafting skills since I began sewing at age seven. Nothing is wasted in God’s economy, even the little projects of childhood that began my love of creating and giving.
