Katie grew up in Michigan and Minnesota and graduated in 2004 from Minnesota State University, Mankato. In January of 2009 she moved to Nicaragua to work with One by One. She met Yeril in early 2010, they were married in 2011, and they welcomed their daughter, Leyla, in August of 2014 and their son, Johann, in September of 2017.
One by One equips underprivileged children and youth to grow in their relationship with Christ and improve their quality of life through Biblical discipleship, intellectual development, and vocational training.
Katie has held several positions with One by One, in May 2013, she became the Director. Yeril has also served in several areas of the ministry including Children’s Director and music and jujitsu teacher. Both Yeril and Katie have a passion for reaching the people of Nicaragua, especially those who do not feel accepted by traditional churches. In 2018, however, the sociopolitical situation in Nicaragua changed drastically and the Lozanos made the difficult decision to re-located to the US where they are currently. While not able to continue working with One by One on a full-time basis, Katie continues to be involved in the ministry through an advisory role as well as doing the bookkeeping and helping with budgetary decisions.
Katie and Yeril have partnered with Commission Ministers Network to raise funds for their ministry.
