We are the Nistal Molina family. Through our christian life we have had the privilege to serve God in our local church, our country and beyond our borders, always being obedient to the call to share the gospel to the nations. Now, we believe that God is calling us to take the next step in what He has been stirring in our hearts for all these years which is to work alongside people with physical disabilities and their families, giving them educational, personal and spiritual development opportunities through Capernaum Foundation: A Place for Opportunities.
At Capernaum Foundation, we believe that each person with a physical disability has the right to access education and development. In Guatemala around 10.2% of the population have some form of disability and 75% of kids with disabilities do not have the opportunity to receive an education due to lack of accessibility, lack of finances, and lack of knowledge in how to work with people with disabilities.
Our vision is to provide a place of comfort, growth, and hope for children and youth with physical disabilities in Guatemala by making education accessible that is centered on the christian faith allowing students to achieve their full potential and to experience a full life in Christ.
Our mission is to provide a safe and accessible place where students with physical disabilities can affordably complete their education free of discrimination with a Christ centered focus based on biblical principles allowing students to integrate in their communities in ways they were not able to before.
What we do:
-
Inclusive educational opportunities: We offer special programs, adapted to the needs that each student with physical disability has, making sure they have access to a quality education.
-
Entrepreneurship workshops: We encourage autonomy and creativity through practical workshops that teach business skills and help our students to build their own business.
-
Christian Education: We offer a special space for spiritual growth, providing principles of faith, hope and emotional strength.
-
Support and scholarship for students in public schools. During the visits we have done we have met students that are already studying in a public school but they still need the financial support to cover transportation, monthly payments, food, homework and more.
-
Emotional and Spiritual support for families: We know that families who have a family member with a physical disability face great challenges, so we make home visits and when it’s possible we bring groceries that will help meet their basic needs. We also have the opportunity to pray with them, share encouragement, hope, and the Word.
In Guatemala, because kids and adults with disabilities face social exclusion, they are not able to find accessible education which makes it even more difficult to find a job and therefore makes it harder to have a good quality of life.
Your support can change this reality. With every donation, we bring access to education, tools for entrepreneurship, scholarships and the support these people and their families need.
Join our mission! With your help we can keep open paths of inclusion and hope for people with physical disabilities in Guatemala.
